Short intro

Формируйте собственную. Willy and the Poor Boys is the fourth studio album by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival, released by Fantasy Records in November 1969. It was the last of three studio albums the band released that year, arriving just three months after Green River. The album features the songs Down on the Corner, from which the album got its name, and Fortunate Son, which is a well-known protest song. Creedence also released its own version of Cotton Fields on this album, which reached the 1. Creedence Clearwater Revival often referred to as Creedence or CCR was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s which consisted of lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty, his brother rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook, and drummer Doug Clifford. These members played together since 1959, first as The Blue Velvets, then as The Golliwogs. Their musical style encompassed the roots rock, swamp rock, and blues rock genres. Learn more. It Came Out Of The Sky. John Fogerty's soulful growl serves him well on all of the above, as well as on covers of two Leadbelly-associated tunes: Cotton Fields and the gospel-flavored The Midnight Special. The bluesy instrumental Side o' the Road gives Fogerty a chance to strut his guitar chops, while. Make no mistake, Willy & the Poor Boys is a fun record, perhaps the breeziest album CCR ever made. Apart from the eerie minor-key closer Effigy one of John Fogerty's most haunting numbers, there is little of the doom that colored Green River. Also, there's that unbridled vocal from Fogerty and the ferocious playing on CCR, which both sound fresh as they did upon release. Fortunate Son is one of the greatest, hardest rock & rollers ever cut, so it might seem to be out of step with an album that is pretty laid-back and friendly, but there's that elemental joy that by late '69 was one of CCR's main trademarks. The quartets relatively relaxed fourth album, 1969s Willy and the Poor Boys, nevertheless upped the anger ante on Fortunate Son, which rages against class-based draft inequality with rare, beat-driven fury: Even Dylan couldnt pen a protest song that makes you wanna dance.
