Short intro

Soused is a collaborative album between singer Scott Walker and experimental metal band Sunn O. Announced in early 2014 by 4AD, the album was produced by Walker and Peter Walsh with the help of Mark Warman and released on 21 October 2014. 4AD released a music video for the song Brando, directed by French filmmaker Gisèle Vienne. Sunn O songwriters Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson had previously contacted Walker about contributing vocals to Monoliths & Dimensions in 2009, but Walker declined. Текст песни: Shes hidden her babies away Their soft, gummy smiles Wont be gilding the menu The deer fly, the sand fly. Album 2014 5 Songs. Soused Scott Walker. Walker, born Noel Scott Engel in Ohio - the Walker Brothers were neither Walkers nor brothers - has lived in London for most of his life now. During our conversation, I asked him about the bell. Its a strange thing, I said: It becomes blotted out by the other sounds, such that you forget its there. But the word Soused, Mr. Walker confirmed, is to be taken in its other meaning: drenched, or plunged into water. That could have something to do with the flooding quality of the drones, the thickness of that sound. OMalley, 40, and Greg Anderson, 43, the principals in Sunn O, are serious fans of Mr. Their collaborative LP Soused feels more like an event and an experience than a vital, persevering record for either party involved. Its good and, at times, completely absorbing, especially when Walker and the amplifiers seem to be fighting on the same side of a great battle. You wont need to pinch yourself awake: As if to ensure listeners that Soused isnt some fantastic nightmare or haunted daydream, Scott Walker and Sunn O begin their five-track, 50-minute collaboration with a brief series of exclamation marks. Walkers voice sweeps in with extreme operatic gusto, delivering a set of simple, sliding phrases over sparkling synthesizers. Soused is unlike any previous Scott Walker recording for two reasons. First, it's a complete collaboration with the doom drone duo Sunn 0 second, it, unlike any of his albums since 1984's Climate of Hunter, requires no previous context for appreciation. While these five tracks are undeniably heavy, as a whole the music is more conventionally melodic than one would anticipate from this pairing. Soused is right This record is soaked in Sunn's drone. To my mind this would be a far better record without them. It's not that I dislike Soused, far from it, only that the drone becomes tiresome after a while. Because of this, I feel this is the least interesting record Scott Walker has made in a very long time indeed. I just can't see what he felt Sunn could bring to the party that he couldn't do better himself, with his trusty group of regular musicians and Peter Walsh. The most fucked up album Sunn has ever done, and I love every minute of it. It's worth every penny. Rispondi Avvertimi 1 Helpful. But now we have the extreme end of the spectrum with Soused, the album produced by the union of pop-gone-bonkers vocalist Scott Walker and doom-pushers Sunn O. This pairing would seem to be the most logical of the three, despite the fact that Sunns and Walkers musical stylings would never put them in close proximity. Stephen OMalley and Greg Anderson approached Walker in hopes that the vocalist would appear on their 2009 album, Monoliths & Dimensions. He passed due to scheduling conflicts, but dug into the duos catalog and grew intrigued
