Short intro

Bob Stanley has done an expert job of pop excavation with Tea & Symphony: The English Baroque Sound 1967-1974. The title both explains the comp completely and not at all, as it suggests that this is dainty, delicate it is compared to the heavy psych at the time, but compared to pop later categorized as Baroque, this isn't nearly as twee as you might think. Boston Baroque - Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah - Продолжительность: 4:06 Boston Baroque Recommended for you. Lea Nixon - Off To Find A New definitive collection of English Baroque, this compilation includes familiar classics like Colin Blunstone's Say 'You Don't Mind' and Honeybus' 'I Can't Let Maggie Go', as well Vigrass and Osborne's original recording of the Justin Hayward hit 'Forever Autumn' and master of the observational, homespun pop Clifford T Ward's 'Coathanger'. I wish Ace Records would have made this a double CD with the original album 2007 included here, only 3 songs from that CD are here. I Highly recommend this album for collectors of 60s and 70s music. reissue of this coming out on Ace in a short while, vinyl and CD
Only 4 of the songs from this one are on the new one with the same name.
A note by Bob Stanley here claims four tracks in common not just call this volume 2, and skip those four tracks?
Three tracks in common, the two you mentioned, plus Off to Find a New Land. The new one includes Fading Yellow, a great track, which gave its name to the definitive compilations of this kind of music. For some reason, Ace have also decided to completely wreck the attractive cover art.
The Lea Nixon track "Off To Find A New Land" also appears on Ace's new compilation
Just checked track listings between this and the new ACE issue coming out at the end of January 2020. and it seems only a couple of the tracks are the same. Jon Plum - Alice and Les Payne - Very Well. Can't see any other overlap.
Excellent compilation with absolutely no filler amongst its 24 tracks. It seemed to be available for a few days only then disappeared from the shops. Not sure why.
I loved this CD when I first got it, but playing it again nearly 10 years later, for me it peaks with the first 5 tracks, then doesn't really offer up anything too exciting for its remainder. Still worth keeping hold of for an occasional late evening spin, though.Re: the brevity of its availability- Castle Music closed down in 2007- rather suddenly by the looks of things, as several other just-out gems also vanished overnight, like the Peep Show compilation and the "Real Life Permanent Dreams" box set, to name but two.
